Community Groups

Welcome to the Urmston Online directory of local groups you might want to get involved with. A big part of what UO is trying to achieve, is to play our part in helping create some 'social capital' across the area.

Social capital is basically the idea that the more involvement and interaction people have with social and community groups, the more likely they are to be happy, to be healthy and to live longer – which seems like reason enough to ‘turn off your television set and go do something less boring instead’ (that should either give you a glow of nostalgia, or leave you blank – if you’re in the latter group go here for an explanation!)

So have a look at the links here, find a group that appeals, then get in touch and get involved – and don’t forget to use the UO forums to tell everyone how you get on.

For a full borough-wide list of groups, you can also use the council website at http://www.trafford.gov.uk/communitygroups/Search.aspx?q=urmston
